TISÁ BECAME FAMOUS THROUGH BUTTONS
In the beginning of the 19th century up to ten independent button
manufactories were operating in Tisá. Besides the ordinary buttons also
decorative were produced – with filigrees, cuff studs, indian or neck buttons.
In the beginning of the 20th century unbelievable 3000 people joined the
button production here. Later the company Koh-i-noor concentrated besides
buttons also on hairdressing instruments, candleholders for Christmas trees,
lipstick cases, cable plugs, sail rings and other smallwares.
Products were exported in many countries, the majority of Tisá inhabitants
was engaged just with this production. But the fame of the button production in
Tisá belongs already to the past today.
SANDSTONES LIVE
The Flora of The Elbe Sandstone Rocks is influenced primarily by the
geologic bed, various structure of the terrain, fading sea climate and also the
activity of mankind. Labrador pine woods with heather moor, cranberries,
blueberries, the marsh Labrador tea and the wavy hair grass preserved on the
rock shelves and plateaus.
In cold caves we can find spruces accompanied with stag´s-horn
clubmoss, fern, moss and lichen. The Tisá Walls belong to the regions
nominated into the Natura 2000 System as a bird region.
INFORMATION
The community of Tisá is at 550 meters above the sea level and has
610 permanent residents, in the high season the cottagers furthermore expand the
number of inhabitants. For the visitors of Tisá Walls there´s accomodation for
about 400 visitors in the community and the surrounding communities in the
tourist high season available.
There are regular bus connections to Ústí nad Labem and Děčín, both towns 20
km distant. The border crossing to Germany Petrovice-Bahratal is 6 km far from
Tisá.

adults 20 CZK, children from 6 to 15 yrs 10 CZK, retired 10 CZK. Opening hours:
Monday to Sunday 9-17.

advice also in English and German.
